This was established in partnership with the University of
Calgary in 1984. It is awarded every fall to a third or fourth year
student of the University of Calgary's Civil Engineering
Program who participates in the University of Calgary Structural
Design Competition. The award is based on merit and encourages
study in structural engineering at the University of Calgary.
Each year an engineering design problem is identified, and
individuals or teams compete to design the best solution.
This typically requires the design and construction of a model,
accompanied by a brief written report and an oral
presentation.
The total value of the award is $5000. This will be
distributed as determined by the judging committee and may be
divided among contestants.
